Brian Shields
Born in Pennsylvania, Brian Shields comes from a long line of artist. Brians mother was a self taught artist that inspired him as a child, teaching him to draw and paint. Over the years, Brian studied Visual Communications at the Art Institute in Pittsburgh PA. He also took various workshops on oil painting. To help pay bills, Brian took a course in Advanced Welding Technologies. Moving to Georgia in 1987, Brian was employed as a welder. Still, he continued drawing and painting as a hobby. He then moved from Georgia to Kansas in 1993. There he earned a degree in CAD drafting and, moved back to Georgia in 1997. He now resides in Winder and has been employed as a mechanical designer for twenty years. In 2011, Brian decided to pick back up the paint brush and enrolled in "Painting with Charles" at the Lyndon House Art Center in Athens GA.
Currently Brian works in oils and acrylics on canvas, pen and inks and, relief wood carving. His biggest influences have been his mother, the Impressionist movement, Van Gogh, Monet. Jack Rudy, Alex Grey etc. Brian says his more "bizarre" works are inspired from his son and daughter. You can see his work on display at the LakeView Art Center in Flowerybranch Georgia.
